Special Exhibitions

The next Museum exhibition in the Esmond Gallery will be "Letters from the Goldfields" and will run from January 14 to February 28, 2017.

The letters reflect the life and times of gold diggers and government officials during the turbulent gold rush era.

Museum Window Display

The Fraser Street shopfront display is designed to arouse curiosity and increase visits. Displays are changed throughout the year. A regular feature is a display of newspaper reports from 100 years ago published in the Clunes Guardian and Gazette as well as a monthly "mystery object".

Donations

Items of local significance are always welcome and the generosity of benefactors is vital to preserving the district's rich cultural heritage. As an accredited Museum, all donations are receipted and acknowledged following professional protocols.

Cataloguing

This is a huge and ongoing job. Since moving back into the redeveloped building in 2014, the exact location of every item in the collection has had to be updated on both hard copy and digital records. In 2017, the focus of cataloguing will turn to the sizable part of the collection stored off-site.
